Trump says a deal with Iran and opening of Strait of Hormuz are 'largely negotiated'
President Donald Trump announced a potential Memorandum of Understanding after talks with Israel and other allies, though Iranian media reports the Strait of Hormuz will remain under its control

President Donald Trump announced on social media on Saturday that a peace deal with Iran has been "largely negotiated," potentially paving the way for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump, the proposed agreement is currently framed as a "Memorandum of Understanding." The announcement followed a series of discussions between the U.S. president, Israel, Gulf allies, and a Pakistani mediator.[1][2]
However, the claims of a finalized deal have been tempered by statements from other regional players. The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed hope to host additional talks "very soon" to continue the diplomatic process. Meanwhile, Iran's Fars news agency reported that the Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iranian control, suggesting that key details of the agreement may still be contested.[1]
