US appeals court pauses Minnesota AI deepfake law in XAI lawsuit
A U.S. federal appeals court has halted Minnesota's ban on AI-generated fake nude images while Elon Musk's xAI pursues a constitutional challenge against the law

Elon Musk's technology company xAI has persuaded a U.S. federal appeals court to halt Minnesota's first-in-the-nation ban on AI-generated fake nude images. The decision temporarily suspends enforcement of the state's AI nudification measure while xAI actively pursues litigation challenging the statute.[1][2]
The order was delivered by the St. Louis-based 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. In its lawsuit, the social media and technology company contends that Minnesota's restrictions on synthetic sexually explicit content are unconstitutional.[1][2]
