Mora Discover
About the feed

What this is
Mora Discover is a synthesized news feed for ecommerce operators. We pull from news outlets, community threads, brand posts, and creator content; cluster duplicate coverage; and publish one careful read per cluster with every source linked.
How it works
- Ingestion (hourly). The pipeline polls a curated list of RSS feeds, brand accounts on Instagram and YouTube, public Reddit subs, Hacker News, the Shopify partner blog, and a handful of trade-press outlets. New items are normalized, canonicalized, and stored.
- Clustering. Items are grouped into clusters using URL canonicalization, embedding similarity, and entity overlap. Single-source items are held; clusters of two or more are eligible for synthesis.
- Synthesis. Eligible clusters are passed to Gemini 3 Flash with a custom prompt that requires source attribution on every paragraph. Output that fails the prompt's own attribution or confidence checks is held back.
- Editorial review. JT runs a daily review pass on a random sample, files corrections, and re-tunes the prompt every couple of weeks based on what the review surfaces.
- Publication. Synthesized stories surface here on /discover and on the topic landing pages. The full source list is exposed under each article.
Source list (high level)
We don't publish the full polling list because that surface area changes. The categories:
- Ecommerce trade press: Modern Retail, Retail Brew, Retail Dive, Glossy, Marketing Brew, Email Geeks
- Platform news: Shopify partner blog, Klaviyo product blog, TikTok newsroom, Meta business updates, Pinterest business
- Tech and AI: The Information, Stratechery (public posts), MIT Tech Review (ecommerce-tagged)
- Community: r/shopify, r/ecommerce, r/socialmedia, Hacker News (filtered to ecommerce-relevant items)
- Brand and creator content: a curated list of DTC brand accounts and operator-creator newsletters
Refresh cadence
The ingestion pipeline runs every hour. Synthesis runs after each ingestion pass on clusters that crossed the eligibility threshold during the pass. Articles are typically live within 5-15 minutes of the underlying source publishing.
