A San Francisco County Superior Court judge has advanced the majority of Reddit's data-scraping lawsuit against Anthropic. The legal action, which accuses Anthropic of illegally scraping Reddit user comments to train its Claude chatbot, cleared another hurdle after the judge issued an order allowing the suit to move forward.[1][2]
In the order, the judge permitted three of Reddit's five claims to proceed while trimming back two others. Although most of the lawsuit against Anthropic remains intact, the court determined that the two trimmed claims will need amending.[1][2]
