Anthropic has accused Chinese technology giant Alibaba of carrying out what it describes as the largest known attempt to extract its AI capabilities. The company alleges that the Chinese rival targeted its systems to copy its technology.[1][2]

According to the allegations, the extraction was attempted through what is known as a distillation attack. Anthropic further alleged that Alibaba utilized fraudulent accounts to gain access to data from its Claude AI model.[1][2]
