Anthropic seeks Google funding for new data center leases
The AI startup has signed preliminary agreements for over 1 GW of US data center capacity and is seeking lease guarantees from Google

Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is planning to lease and manage its own data centers, according to a report by The Information. To support this expansion, the creator of the Claude Code AI assistant is seeking financial backing from Alphabet's Google to cover the lease payments. Google is already an established backer of the AI company, and this potential arrangement would further deepen the relationship between the two technology firms.[1][2][3]
As part of its infrastructure plans, Anthropic has signed preliminary agreements for more than 1 gigawatt of data center capacity in the United States. To secure these commitments, Google may provide a financial guarantee for the lease payments.[2][3]
