Canada Invests $1.2 Million in Saanich Sewer Infrastructure
The federal government is funding upgrades to the Brett Sewer Lift Station and Forcemain project in British Columbia through the Build Communities Strong Fund

On June 16, 2026, the Canadian federal government announced an investment of more than $1.2 million for the Brett Sewer Lift Station and Forcemain upgrade project in the District of Saanich, British Columbia. This funding is being provided through the Direct Delivery stream of the Build Communities Strong Fund. The upgrade project is designed to include both planning and capital components to improve the district's sewer infrastructure.[1][2]
The federal funding will specifically support the development of a detailed design for the infrastructure upgrades. It will also fund the necessary work to decommission the existing lift station in Saanich, alongside the construction of the upgraded system. These efforts are aimed at improving local infrastructure to support the community's ongoing development and housing needs.[1][2]
This initiative is part of the broader Build Communities Strong Fund, a national program investing $51 billion in infrastructure projects across Canada. The fund is designed to support economic prosperity, housing, sport, education, health, transit, and climate adaptation. Federal officials emphasized that building a strong Canada starts with investing in the infrastructure that supports more housing and creates stronger communities.[1][2]
