England Face Argentina in Highly Anticipated 2026 World Cup Semifinal

England and Argentina are set to renew one of international football's most historic rivalries when they face off in the semifinal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Atlanta. The highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm EST, 8pm BST, and 5am AEST on Wednesday.[1][2]

England manager Thomas Tuchel believes his squad will face an Argentina team "fuelled by history." This matchup marks the sixth time the two nations have met at the World Cup tournament, with three of those previous encounters occurring after the Falklands war of 1982.[2]

To reach the semifinals, England navigated a tournament path that included Group L victories over Croatia and Panama, alongside a draw with Ghana. They subsequently defeated DR Congo in the round of 32, Mexico in the round of 16, and secured a quarterfinal victory against Norway after extra time.[2]
