Freed Gaza Flotilla Activists Allege Abuse and Sexual Violence in Israeli Custody
Activists released from Israeli custody after attempting to deliver aid to Gaza report severe abuse, including physical violence and sexual assault

Organizers announced on Friday that activists released from Israeli custody, who had been detained on a flotilla attempting to deliver aid to Gaza, were subjected to severe abuse. Several of the released individuals have been hospitalized with injuries resulting from their detention, and at least 15 of the activists have reported experiencing sexual assault, including rape.[1][2]
The former detainees reported being slapped, hit, and humiliated while in custody, in addition to being subjected to sexual violence. In response to the accusations, Israel's prison service has denied the claims, stating that the allegations of abuse are false.[1]
