Gaza Flotilla Activists Released from Israeli Detention, Face Deportation

Two international activists arrested last month after Israeli forces intercepted the Gaza-bound flotilla they were traveling on are expected to be deported in the coming days. The activists, identified as Spanish national Saif Abu Keshek and Brazilian national Thiago Avila, were taken into custody by Israeli authorities on April 29. According to their lawyers, both men were officially released from security detention on Saturday and are now awaiting their removal from the country.[1][2]

The Israeli internal security service, Shin Bet, formally informed the Adalah legal center about the impending release of the two men. In response to the notification from Israeli authorities, the Adalah legal team announced that they will be actively monitoring all ongoing developments. Their oversight aims to ensure that both the release from detention and the subsequent deportation procedures take place as planned.[1]
