Hantavirus outbreak kills 3 on cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean, WHO says
Three passengers aboard the MV Hondius have died in a suspected hantavirus outbreak in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the World Health Organization.

The World Health Organization has reported a deadly hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship in the Atlantic Ocean that has killed three people. The fatalities occurred among passengers aboard the MV Hondius who began showing symptoms of the rare disease. In response to the deaths, health authorities have confirmed at least one case of the virus and are actively investigating five other suspected cases connected to the vessel.[1][2]
Hantavirus infections are highly uncommon but are known to cause severe and potentially deadly respiratory infections in humans. The disease is typically spread to people through direct exposure to the urine, saliva, or feces of infected rodents, such as rats or mice.[1][2]
