Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced a ban on social media for children under 16, warning that platforms make youngsters unhappy and expose them to dangerous, addictive content

Children under the age of 16 will be banned from using social media in Britain, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Monday. In making the announcement, Starmer explained that the government is taking action because such platforms are making youngsters "unhappy."[1]
The Prime Minister also issued a warning regarding the design and influence of these online spaces. Starmer cautioned that social media platforms are actively exposing children to content that is "dangerous" and "designed to be addictive."[2]
