Lost ‘cloud’ of artist who wrapped the Reichstag to be created in UK gallery
A London gallery will construct a monumental, internally lit installation designed by Christo in 1968 after the discovery of lost scale models and drawings in the late artist's studio

A London gallery is set to realize a monumental installation designed by the artist Christo in 1968, six years after his death. The project, titled Air Package on a Ceiling, was originally conceived as a vast, internally illuminated suspended form resembling a cloud. Although Christo had imagined the work decades ago, technical constraints at the time prevented the plan from being executed. The installation will be created using a detailed scale model and drawings that had been presumed lost until their recent discovery.[1][2]
The realization of the work follows the chance discovery of these materials in Christo’s studio. Christo was widely celebrated for his ambitious environmental art, which often involved wrapping major landmarks or landscape features. His previous projects included wrapping the Reichstag in Berlin, covering the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris, and suspending a massive curtain across a valley in Colorado. This new London exhibition marks a significant posthumous addition to his body of work, bringing a long-dormant vision to life through the newly recovered plans. The internally lit structure is expected to transform the gallery space, fulfilling a vision that has remained on paper for more than half a century.[1][2]
