Meta faces US lawmaker scrutiny over removal of lawyer ads for social media addiction cases
Two U.S. senators sent a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg criticizing the removal of advertisements from attorneys seeking clients harmed by social media platforms.

Meta is currently facing increased scrutiny from United States lawmakers over the company's decision to remove specific legal advertisements from its platforms. The controversy centers on the removal of ads placed by attorneys who were actively seeking to represent clients in cases related to social media addiction. In response to these actions, two U.S. senators formally raised their concerns on Friday, May 1, by sending a direct letter to Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg.[1][2]
In their communication to Zuckerberg, the legislators explicitly stated that Meta should not have removed the advertisements from attorneys looking for individuals who claim they were harmed by the company's social media platforms. The bipartisan effort demanding answers from the social media giant was spearheaded by Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn and a Democratic senator.[1][2]
