Ouster Debuts REV8 OS Family with World's First Native Color Lidar

Ouster, Inc. (Nasdaq: OUST), a San Francisco-based developer of lidar technology, has announced the launch of its REV8 OS Family. The company describes the new product line as the world's first native color lidar, utilizing patented technology to provide point-for-point 3D color vision. This advancement is powered by Ouster's breakthrough L4 and L4 Max Silicon, which serves as the foundation for the sensors' enhanced imaging capabilities and allows for more sophisticated environmental perception.[1][2]

A central component of the new family is the flagship OS1 Max sensor. According to the company, this sensor provides double the range and resolution of the earlier Rev7 model, significantly increasing the data density and detection distance available for autonomous systems. The REV8 sensors are further designed to meet rigorous industrial and automotive requirements, featuring an auto-grade construction that is cybersecure and specifically engineered for functional safety. These features are intended to ensure reliable performance in a variety of demanding applications.[1][2]
