Protein Industries Canada Funds Two Domestic Food Production Projects
Two companies in British Columbia and Ontario join the Strengthening the Canadian Supply Chain program to boost domestic food processing

Based in Regina, Saskatchewan, Protein Industries Canada announced on June 16, 2026, the addition of two new companies to its Strengthening the Canadian Supply Chain program. This represents the third cohort to be introduced under the program, which is specifically focused on developing food products that contain a higher proportion of Canadian-grown and -processed ingredients. The initiative aims to help Canada strengthen both its domestic processing capacity and its food supply chain.[2]
The participating companies, which are located in British Columbia and Ontario, are focused on developing these new food options using Canadian-grown and -processed ingredients. By prioritizing domestic products, the projects under the Strengthening the Canadian Supply Chain program aim to provide families across the country with a wider selection of sustainable food options. Furthermore, the initiative is built on the opportunity for Canada to not just grow agricultural products locally, but to also process and manufacture them domestically, thereby strengthening Canada's economy and global competitiveness.[1][2]
