Rubio and Trump Raise Threat of Military Action in Cuba
President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio renewed threats of military intervention in Cuba shortly after the U.S. announced criminal charges against Raúl Castro

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday again raised the specter of U.S. military intervention in Cuba. This renewed threat has taken on greater weight as it comes just one day after the Trump administration announced criminal charges against Raúl Castro, the island's former leader.[1][2]
During an event in the Oval Office, President Trump was asked about Cuba by reporters. Trump stated that other presidents have spent 50 or 60 years looking at doing something about the nation, and he indicated that he may be the one to take action.[1]
Rubio, serving as America's top diplomat, expressed strong doubts about the potential for diplomacy with the Cuban government. While Rubio noted that the president would like to achieve a negotiated agreement with Havana, he emphasized that the likelihood of such an agreement is not high.[1][2]
