Study Links Social Media Addiction to Higher Stress and Irritability
Research following 900 adults over six months finds that heavy social media users are grumpier, more stressed, and more likely to neglect daily responsibilities.

A six-month study of 900 adults has revealed that individuals addicted to social media are grumpier and more stressed than those who successfully curb their scrolling habits. Researchers found that high levels of social media engagement correlated with negative emotional states, contrasting with the outcomes seen in participants who actively limited their time spent on digital platforms.[1][2]
The research also indicated that social media addiction frequently leads to the neglect of everyday routines and obligations. Participants with heavy usage patterns were found to be more likely to let day-to-day parts of their lives fall by the wayside. Overall, more than a quarter of the 900 surveyed adults reported online usage at a level judged to be problematic over the course of the six-month study.[1][2]
