St. Pantaleon Honored as Saint of the Day for July 27, 2026

St. Pantaleon, honored as the Saint of the Day for Monday, July 27, 2026, was a famous medical doctor who originated from Nicomedia, near the Black Sea in Asia. Because of his exceptional reputation and skill in medicine, the Emperor himself chose Pantaleon to serve as his personal doctor.[2]

Although Pantaleon was originally a practicing Christian, the negative influence of the pagan court environment caused him to abandon his Christian faith completely. His trajectory changed when a holy priest named Hermolaos intervened, helping Pantaleon realize the gravity of the sin he had committed.[2]

Upon listening to the priest, Pantaleon deeply detested his sin and officially rejoined the Church. To make amends for having abandoned his faith, he developed a strong desire to suffer and die for his beliefs.
