Thousands Evacuated in Southern California Over Leaking Chemical Tank
Authorities ordered 40,000 people to evacuate after a storage tank leaked a hazardous chemical, posing an explosion risk

Authorities in southern California ordered the evacuation of 40,000 people on Friday after a large storage tank began leaking a hazardous chemical. The chemical, which is used to manufacture plastic parts, created a significant risk of an explosion.[1]
To address the danger, firefighters succeeded in lowering the temperature of the storage tank. This intervention has bought emergency crews additional time to stabilize the situation.[2]
