Three dead in suspected hantavirus outbreak on Atlantic cruise ship
The World Health Organization is investigating an outbreak of the rodent-transmitted virus aboard a cruise ship crossing the Atlantic, leaving three passengers dead and one in intensive care.

Three passengers have died aboard a cruise ship crossing the Atlantic Ocean following a suspected outbreak of hantavirus. The World Health Organization announced the fatalities on Sunday, raising concerns about the presence of the rare but potentially severe infection at sea.[1]
In total, six passengers have fallen ill during the voyage. Alongside the three deceased individuals, one passenger is currently receiving treatment in intensive care. The World Health Organization noted that the illness is a suspected rodent-transmitted virus.[2]
Health officials have officially confirmed one case of hantavirus infection among the affected passengers. The remaining five illnesses are currently classified as suspected cases and remain under active investigation by the World Health Organization as they monitor the situation on the vessel.[1][3]
