US President Donald Trump has abandoned a proposal to implement a 20 percent toll on cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The decision to drop the plan came after the president received phone calls from Gulf emirs who opposed the fee on the strategic waterway.[1][2]
Instead of pursuing the controversial transit fee, President Trump announced that he would seek to secure additional investment deals with Gulf states.[1][2]
