Trump says he is reviewing Iran's new offer but doubts it is 'acceptable'

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he is currently reviewing a new proposal from the Iranian regime intended to bring an end to the war. Writing in a post on Truth Social, the president indicated that while the plan had been received, he remained pessimistic about the likelihood of the offer leading to a successful resolution. He noted that he would soon be reviewing the plan in full but expressed doubt that it would meet his standards for an acceptable agreement.[1][2]

Trump specifically questioned the acceptability of the proposal, arguing that the Iranian government has not yet faced adequate repercussions for its international behavior. He stated that he could not imagine the plan being acceptable because the regime has not paid a big enough price for what it has done to humanity and the world over the last 47 years, according to his social media post.[1][2]

The president's latest remarks come shortly after he had initially dismissed the proposal. On Friday, Trump flatly rejected the Iranian offer, but he subsequently clarified his position by explaining that he had only been briefed on the general concept of the deal rather than the full details of the formal plan he is now reviewing.[1]
