Trump Unhurt After Shooting at White House Correspondents' Dinner

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were rushed to safety on Saturday evening after gunshots were fired during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. The incident occurred at the Washington Hilton, where the Secret Service evacuated the president, the first lady, and other administration officials from the ballroom as the annual gala was disrupted.[1][2][4]

Authorities took a suspect into custody following the shooting. The individual, described as a lone wolf, is being charged with two counts of felony firearms and assault. Despite the disruption, both the president and the first lady remained unharmed during the event.[1][3][4][5]

During the confrontation, a law enforcement officer was shot at close range. However, the officer's life was saved by a bullet-proof vest. The shooting turned the fundraiser event upside down as security personnel worked to secure the venue and apprehend the gunman.[2][4]

Following the evacuation, President Trump remarked on the atmosphere in the room, stating that he saw a room that was just totally unified and called it a very beautiful thing. The president has reportedly vowed to reschedule the dinner after the security breach.[2][3]
