A 31-year-old California teacher and CalTech graduate was arrested after allegedly rushing a Secret Service checkpoint with multiple weapons during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner
Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from Torrance, California, was arrested following a security breach at the Washington Hilton during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. Allen, who was staying at the hotel as a guest, allegedly rushed a Secret Service checkpoint while armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and knives. The incident took place at the site of the high-profile annual event where the President and other officials were in attendance.[1][2]
President Trump addressed the situation, confirming that the suspect was from California and was successfully subdued after a Secret Service agent was struck in his protective vest. Law enforcement officials have further identified Allen as a graduate of the California Institute of Technology, also known as CalTech. The President's remarks highlighted the quick response of security personnel during the armed encounter.[1][2]
The suspect's background as an educator in Torrance and his status as a registered guest at the Washington Hilton have been confirmed by law enforcement. While the investigation continues, officials have focused on the recovery of the shotgun, handgun, and knives found in Allen's possession at the time he attempted to bypass the Secret Service checkpoint.[1][2]
