Cole Tomas Allen Identified as Suspect in White House Correspondents' Dinner Shooting
Authorities have charged a 31-year-old California man after he allegedly attacked a security checkpoint with multiple weapons during the annual media gala in Washington

Law enforcement officials have identified 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, as the suspect in a shooting that occurred Saturday night during the White House Correspondents' Dinner. The incident took place at the Washington Hilton at approximately 8:36 p.m. when Allen allegedly charged a security checkpoint. At the time of the attempted breach, the suspect was reportedly armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.[1][2]
During the security breach, Allen allegedly fired a weapon at a Secret Service agent. The agent survived the encounter because he was wearing a bulletproof vest that protected him from the gunfire. Despite the violence of the encounter, law enforcement officers managed to take Allen into custody at the scene without discharging their own firearms. Following his arrest, the suspect was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.[1][2]
The security incident prompted the immediate evacuation of Donald Trump from the stage at the media gala. Allen, who has previously been recognized as a Teacher of the Month, is now facing federal charges in connection with the shooting. Authorities continue to investigate the motives behind the attack at the high-profile event, which draws journalists and political figures to the capital.[1][2]
