Conflict hinders Ebola containment efforts in DR Congo
WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warns that conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo is severely hindering efforts to contain a worsening Ebola outbreak

The ongoing conflict between armed groups in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has made it increasingly difficult for health workers to contain a worsening Ebola outbreak. World Health Organization Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned on Wednesday that the region is facing a "catastrophic collision" of Ebola and war.[1][2]
According to the WHO chief, the ability of medical teams to halt the spread of the disease is deeply compromised by the security situation. Tedros stressed the urgency of the crisis, noting that "stopping this Ebola transmission depends entirely on humanitarian access" to the conflict-affected areas.[1][2]
