Gunman at Correspondents’ Dinner Targeted Trump Officials, Acting AG Says
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche revealed that a 31-year-old suspect who attempted to storm the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner had traveled across the country to target administration officials

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated on Sunday that the accused gunman who attempted to storm the ballroom at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner is believed to have been specifically targeting members of the Trump administration. The suspect, identified as a 31-year-old man, was reportedly armed with both guns and knives during the attempt to breach the high-profile event.[1][2]
According to federal officials, the suspect’s journey to the capital involved a cross-country trip by train. He is believed to have traveled from California to Chicago and then on to Washington, D.C. Once in the city, he checked into the hotel hosting the dinner as a registered guest, allowing him access to the venue where the glitzy Saturday night event was taking place.[1][2]
The security breach led to immediate action from the Secret Service, as President Donald Trump was rushed off the stage following the sound of gunshots. The suspect was taken into custody and is currently facing charges related to the incident. Blanche provided these details as part of the ongoing investigation into the security threat at the prominent gathering.[1][2]
