Top Jalisco Cartel Leader 'El Jardinero' Arrested in Mexico
Mexican special forces captured Audias Flores, a high-ranking commander of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and a potential successor to the group's former leader

Mexican special forces have apprehended Audias Flores, a prominent commander within the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The arrest took place in the western state of Nayarit, according to an announcement made on Monday by Security Minister Omar Garcia Harfuch. Flores, widely known by the alias "El Jardinero," is recognized as one of the most senior leaders in the powerful criminal organization.[1][2]
Within the hierarchy of the CJNG, Flores was viewed as a significant figure and a likely candidate to take control of the cartel's operations. He was considered a powerful potential successor to the group's former leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as "El Mencho," who ran the cartel until his reported death.[2]
The leadership transition within the cartel follows reports that El Mencho was killed in February. As a top commander, Flores's capture represents a significant development in the Mexican government's ongoing efforts against the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which remains one of the most powerful and influential criminal groups currently operating in the country.[1][2]
