Trump hosts crypto contest winners at Mar-a-Lago as his coin languishes
President Donald Trump is hosting top buyers of his $TRUMP cryptocurrency at his Florida estate even as the meme coin's market value has dropped 96% from its peak

President Donald Trump is hosting winners of his second annual meme coin contest at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, this Saturday. The event offers top buyers of the $TRUMP cryptocurrency a personal audience with the president, despite the token's value plummeting 96% from its peak last year.[1][2][3][4]
The gathering, which Trump has described as the world's most exclusive crypto and business conference, will include the 297 largest token holders who registered for the contest. While Trump is scheduled to deliver a keynote address, the top 29 participants will also attend a special VIP reception and champagne toast with him.[1]
The event comes amid heightened scrutiny of the Trump family's crypto ventures, with some Democratic leaders calling for investigations into potential conflicts of interest. A Reuters examination found the family has earned more than $1 billion from crypto asset sales, including $336 million from meme coins in early 2025. White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that the president's assets are managed in a trust by his children and that he acts only in the public's best interest.[1][4]
